It's usually made of meat, seafood, and other regional ingredients for added flavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While it's served primarily for breakfast, rice congee can also be enjoyed at any time of the day as a side dish or meal on its own. Like most Asian countries, we also have our local adaptation of this rice porridge, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/arroz-caldo\/\">arroz caldo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/goto\/\">goto<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/champorado\/\">champorado<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredient notes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-layout-flow wp-block-list-is-layout-flow\"><li><strong>Chicken<\/strong>- I used chicken breast instead of bone-in and poached it separately. I shredded the cooked chicken and used the broth to pull the soup together.<\/li><li><strong>Vegetables<\/strong>- I sauteed a mirepoix blend of carrots, celery, and onions for flavor and omitted the fish sauce. <\/li><li><strong>Rice<\/strong>- I also used steamed rice instead of raw grains to speed up the cooking time. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1600\" data-pin-description=\"Chicken Rice Congee is easy to prepare and great for chilly weather. Refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.<\/li><li>To reheat, place in a pot and warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until completely heated through.<\/li><li>Add broth or
