Besides, have you ever tried cleaning a hundred or so of this fish? Forget about it!<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"callout-block_f7347612abb5c6b1542c06ff761b3427\" class=\"oc-gutenberg-block oc-recipe-tip-block callout__default\">\n\n\t<span class=\"callout--icon__default\"><span class=\"block-icon-tip\"><\/span><\/span>\n\n\t<div class=\"callout--content__default\">\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"callout--title__default\">\n\n\t\t\t\tCooking tips\n\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"callout--text__default\">\n\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>Do not over-stir the batter to prevent gluten formation; a few lumps are fine.<\/li>\n<li>Drain the fish well and pat dry with paper towels for the coating to adhere better.<\/li>\n<li>For the best crunch, use enough oil to fully submerge the smelt and heat to an optimal temperature of 350 F to 375 F. Too high, and the fritters will burn before sufficiently cooked; too low, and they will absorb a lot more grease.<\/li>\n<li>Do not overcrowd the pan and fry in batches as needed to keep the temperature from plummeting. Clean the oil with a strainer and heat it to 350 F before adding the next set.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Serving suggestions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/ukoy-na-togue\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">togue<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/ukoy\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">kalabasa<\/a> ukoy are commonly served as a midday snack, ukoy na dilis is more of a viand. Serve with steamed rice and spicy vinegar for dipping, or pair them with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/pinakbet-crispy-lechon-kawali\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pinakbet<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kawalingpinoy.com\/ginataang-munggo-at-baboy\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ginisang munggo<\/a> for a truly Pinoy dinner meal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to store<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-layout-flow wp-block-list-is-layout-flow\">\n<li>As with most fried foods, ukoy are best enjoyed freshly cooked. Place the fried fish fritters on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and keep warm in a 200 F oven until serving.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to reheat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-layout-flow wp-block-list-is-layout-flow\">\n<li><strong>Oven<\/strong>- place on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and bake in a 400 F oven for about 5 to 6 minutes until hot and crispy. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Air fryer<\/strong>- place in a single layer in the air fryer basket and air fry at 350 F for 3 to 5 minutes or until heated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Microwave<\/strong>- NOT recommended as food can get soggy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div
